Newsletter 14th June 2021

Weekly Newsletter – 14 June 2021

Reminder: It is still very important that we adhere to the government guidance regarding social distancing and staying safe. After dropping off or collecting your child(ren), please leave quickly and do not hang around to speak to other parents.

Dear parents and carers

Public Health Covid update

The local Public Heath team have asked me to inform the school community of an increase in the number of Covid cases locally. During half term, CW&C recorded 10 cases per 100,000 people. On 6 June this had increased to 111! This is a dramatic increase and shows that we still need to be careful and follow all the guidance. Initially the increase was confined to Winsford and Northwich but this has now spread across the county. Thanks to our school community working together we have not had any bubble closures for a while now. Please follow all guidance and help us to maintain this as we move into the last weeks of the academic year.

Absence: what to do if your child is ill and can’t attend school

Please notify the school office ( or 01928 722991) as well as your classteacher if your child is going to be absent. Teachers don’t always have time to check emails before the school day and so we don’t always pick up the message. This then takes extra time for the office team who have to check absences with teachers and parents. Please let us know the reason for absence too and if there are any and covid symptoms. Thank you!

Changeover day!

Helsby High School have now confirmed that our Year 6 pupils can visit for their induction day on Wednesday 7th July. Details of this will be sent separately to Year 6 parents. We will use this opportunity for our own ‘Changeover Day’. All classes will spend the day in their class for September. This will provide them with the opportunity to experience their new classroom, meet their new teacher and teaching assistant and ask any questions they may have. We hope that this is a useful experience and that it helps the children with their transition to a new class as usual. If you have any questions or queries about this, please ask.

Parent progress evenings

We would like to invite you to make an appointment to meet virtually (through Zoom) with your child’s classteacher. An annual school report will be sent out on Monday 5th July and you are invited to a parent progress evening on either Tuesday 6th July or Wednesday 7th July. The booking system through our school website (school spider) will open at 4pm on Friday 18th June and close at 3pm on Thursday 1st July.  When the booking system is open you will receive an email to book on. For those new to the system you will receive an email to set up a password.  Teachers will send out the zoom invites nearer the time.

Reminder: school meals price increase

Please note the increase in the cost of school meals. From Monday 7 June, a school meal will cost £2.37.
