Weekly Newsletter – 21 June 2021

Dear parents and carers

Covid update

Last week’s closure of the Year 1 bubble due to a positive Covid case, together with the letter from the local Public Heath team and the significant rise in cases locally, are stark reminders for us to remain vigilant and to follow the government rules and guidance. Thank you for all your support so far. Please continue to be careful and follow all the guidance and help us to maintain this as we move into the last weeks of the academic year.

We will be continuing with enhanced hygiene procedures, staggered timings and the bubble systems until the end of term.

Leavers’ assembly

Unfortunately, after the government announcement this week, we will no longer be able to hold our Year 6 leavers’ assembly in the hall as planned. We are currently planning to do something outside on the playground (weather permitting). It may still be possible to invite parents to this, if we can adhere to social distancing and Covid protocols. However, we are still to make a final decision and will inform Year 6 parents as soon as we can.

Unfortunately, due to government, PHE and Welsh government guidance, we have had to cancel the Year 6 residential to Minydon. We know that the children will be extremely disappointed. Mr Khan is currently planning a number of exciting days out for the children as an alternative and we will be in touch soon to confirm these once we have undertaken the necessary risk assessments and obtained permissions. Thank you for your understanding.

Reminder: Changeover day!

All classes will spend the day in their class for September. This will provide them with the opportunity to experience their new classroom, meet their new teacher and teaching assistant and ask any questions they may have. We hope that this is a useful experience and that it helps the children with their transition to a new class as usual. If you have any questions or queries about this, please ask.

Reminder: Parent progress evenings

We would like to invite you to make an appointment to meet virtually (through Zoom) with your child’s classteacher. An annual school report will be sent out on Monday 5th July and you are invited to a parent progress evening on either Tuesday 6th July or Wednesday 7th July. The booking system is now open and closes on Thursday 1st July at 3pm.  Instructions for access were also sent via Parentpay communication on Friday also outlined below.

You will receive a notification from School Spider (school website), when the system went live (please check your junk box). Please click on parent login on the home page, if you do not know your password, there is a link on the login screen to reset your account. If it is your first time logging in you will need to click the link on the login screen to create an account. To do either of these you will need to use the email address attached to your parent account in SIMS.  Usernames are still firstnamesurname (all one-word lowercase). If you are unsure of your username you can reset your account, the username will be on the email you receive.

A zoom invite to the meeting will be issued by your classteacher nearer the time.

Change to lunch menu – Thursday 24th June

Please note we are trailing chicken chow mein on Thursday instead of curry.
