Reminder: It is still very important that we adhere to the government guidance regarding social distancing and staying safe. After dropping off or collecting your child(ren), please leave quickly and do not hang around to speak to other parents.

Dear Parents and Carers

Return to school

I am pleased to report that we have had lots of happy children returning to school this week ready for the summer term ahead! Already I have seen some terrific writing and I know the children are trying hard. Year 3 and Year 4 very much enjoyed going swimming last week and we are all looking forward to an exciting term as, hopefully, restrictions are gradually lifted and we can start to do more things. We have started making arrangements for a special treat day on Thursday 8 July and will share more details nearer the time!

Extra-curricular activities

Whilst we still need to be careful and maintain our bubble system, we are pleased to start to offer some extra-curricular clubs again:

Football: Tuesdays starting this week 3.30-4.15pm, Mrs Moore and Chester City – Y2 and Y6

Cross Country: Wednesdays starting next week, 5 May 3.15-4pm Mr Richardson – Y5 and Y6

We will let you know of any other clubs as soon as we are able to.

Thank you!

A big thank you to the Reception parents who came to school on Saturday to help out with the outdoor area refurbishments. Your help is very much appreciated and has made a huge difference and improved the outdoor learning environment considerably! Thank you!

Parking considerately and safely

Please can we remind everyone to park considerately and not to block our neighbours’ driveways or stop on the yellow zigzags. As well as causing unnecessary upset, this also impacts on pupil safety. Please park safely and considerately. Since we have introduced the staggered timings, traffic, congestion and parking issues have been much improved so there should be no need to park across a driveway or to park in a dangerous location. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sophie Ecclestone visit

It was brilliant to welcome Sophie back to Hillside last week and to hear her memories of attending our school and her journey to playing cricket for England and being the number one bowler in the world!

We are continuing our cricket focus this week with a special cricket day on Thursday. ‘Chance to Shine’ are providing a cricket lesson for all pupils in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 during the day. We do hope the children enjoy their sessions.
