Thank you as always for your support!  We hope that the children are excited and are looking forward to it! (Santa will be visiting Hillside!)

All Classes

Sweet Jar Stall

We would like children to bring in jars of individually wrapped sweets (such as toffees, boiled sweets, lollipops, Moams, etc) for our Sweet Jar Stall.

After-school clubs

With the nights drawing in and the temperatures dropping, our outdoor sports clubs (football, tag rugby, netball and multi-skills) have now finished until after Christmas.  Cross country on Thursday mornings will continue.

We received some terrific reports regarding the behaviour and attitudes of our Year 6 pupils who were involved in the ‘Bikeability’ programme last week!  Well done everyone!  The course provided the children with important basic skills, awareness and safety knowledge which will prepare them well when they start to cycle on the roads.

Paula Talbot from NSPCC delivered some excellent assemblies and workshops last week.  The main message for the children was speak out, stay safe. A parent workshop will be available tomorrow, Tuesday 27th November at 2pm.  Please do try and attend if you can.

Choir success

The choir performed brilliantly at a remembrance concert in Northwich last week.  They sang beautifully and enjoyed performing with the Vale Royal junior concert band.  This starts a busy programme for the choir and band with Ho Ho Helsby, a concert with the Highfield choir and lots of other exciting events over the festive period.  We wish them all well!

LEGO hospital

Fran D’Arcy led a cluster assembly on Friday about our chosen charity for 2018-19, the LEGO brick hospital.  The hospital will hopefully be on site in the KS1 playground from Wednesday this week.  Do please try and have a look if you can.  Remember that you can ‘buy a brick’ for £1.  All donations can be sent into school this week (pound coins only please).  Thank you as always for your support with this terrific project!  The hospital will also be on show during ‘Ho Ho Helsby’.

Play leaders

This Wednesday the KS2 pupils who have been successful in their play leader applications will undergo training.  Mandy Dorrell, our school sports co-ordinator, will lead training in the school hall.  Once trained, the sports leaders will lead play and activity in the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds at lunchtimes.  Well done to everyone who has volunteered!

Sports Update

Y2 took part in a KS1 multi-skills event at Frodsham Leisure Centre last Thursday.  It was amazing to see so many happy faces working together as one big team!  Well done Year 2!

Streetdance Festival

Good luck to the children taking part in the Streetdance Festival at Helsby High School this Thursday.

Our school kitchen is looking for a temporary kitchen assistant for maternity cover starting in January 2019 working 2 hours per day 11.30am-1.30pm.  Please speak to Mrs Diane Lea, our catering supervisor or contact the school office.
