Parking Pledge

CWAC have asked us to remind you about our safe parking charter and our motto, ‘Think Twice, Park Nice! They have also asked us to remind you of the following important points:

The law

  • It's illegal to use a handheld mobile when driving. This includes using your phone to follow a map, read a text or check social media. This applies even if you’re stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic.
  • It is also illegal to use a handheld phone or similar device when supervising a learner driver.
  • You can only use a handheld phone if you are safely parked or need to call 999 or 112 in an emergency and it’s unsafe or impractical to stop.
  • If you’re caught using a handheld phone while driving, you’ll get 6 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £200. Points on your licence will result in higher insurance costs.
  • If you get just 6 points in the first two years after passing your test, you will lose your licence.
  • Using hands free (e.g. for navigation) is not illegal. However, if this distracts you and affects your ability to drive safely, you can still be prosecuted by the police.

I hope that the parent parking charter continues to address some of the issues of inappropriate parking outside school.Thank you for your continued support of road safety.

Sports Update

Unfortunately the Year 1 ‘mini-kickers’ football tournament was cancelled. It has been rearranged for Thursday 26th April. The Year 2 tournament will now be on Wednesday 25th April.

Cross Country

Well done to everyone who ran in the WCAC races on Saturday. It was very cold and all the runners braved the difficult conditions and tried very hard. There were some fantastic performances, most notably by Mollie Kerr who came 5th in the Y4 girls race and Itala-Maria Ferraro who came 2nd in the Y6 girls race and won a silver medal – a fantastic achievement. Well done Itala!

This week sees the netball team catch up with their league fixtures and the football team play some of their league games at Frodsham Leisure Centre on Friday. Good luck to everyone representing school this week.

Assessment Week

Apart from Y6 and Reception, all classes will be undergoing tests and assessments next week (12th-16th March). Please make sure the children are in on time for these important mid-year assessments.

Next term we will be reviewing our curriculum and the themes and texts we use to form the foundations of our curriculum for all subjects. If parents have any comments about various topics and themes, good or bad, please do let your child’s class teacher know or email the school office at

We do hope that you find the weekly homework that your child brings home useful. Please can you check that they have completed it and sign any home/school book if this is requested. It is important that children complete their homework as it consolidates learning and helps reinforce the concepts covered in class and therefor helps ‘deepen’ their learning. We always try to provide homework that has a purpose and helps your child’s learning. If you have any concerns or queries regarding homework, please speak to your child’s class teacher or check with Mr Richardson.

We have updated our school uniform policy to confirm that girls are able to wear a grey skirt or trousers. Thanks.

Non-Uniform Day

Please note that it is a non-uniform day on Friday. The children can come in their favourite clothes in return for bringing in a prize for the Easter bingo.

Midday assistant vacancy

Due to a recent resignation, we are looking to appoint a new midday assistant. This important role involves helping our children to have a safe and enjoyable lunchtime experience. The hours are 6.25 per week, Monday to Friday, 11.50am until 1.05pm. Please let any friends or family know who may be interested in the role. Please contact Mrs MacCready in the school office asap for further details.

COIN COMPETITION - Thursday 29th March at School, time TBC

Start saving those coins Hillside!

Based on the huge success of last year’s new event, we have agreed to do another coin competition for the children again this year!!

All coins have to be U.K. sterling, and can be as many or as little as you want. The main idea is, to work together as a year group to try and make the longest line out of coins or raise the highest amount in value from coins.

There will be two winners, the winner of longest line and winner of highest value. The winners get to keep their coins to spend on whatever they want, they could choose something for their classroom or maybe a Friday afternoon treat?? We wonder what they will choose?!

Are you looking ahead to booking a Summer Holiday? Or maybe you do a lot of online shopping? Either way, if you use EasyFundraising, you help us to collect free donations with no cost to you!

Thank you for your continued support.
