Newsletter 24th May 2021

Weekly Newsletter – 24 May 2021

Reminder: It is still very important that we adhere to the government guidance regarding social distancing and staying safe. After dropping off or collecting your child(ren), please leave quickly and do not hang around to speak to other parents.

Dear parents and carers

We hope that the easing in lockdown restrictions has provided you all with more opportunities to meet with family and friends. Let’s hope the weather improves!

We have been made aware that some parents have given their child a lateral flow test at home as a precaution when they have symptoms of a cold / sore throat. Unfortunately, we cannot accept a negative lateral flow test as confirmation of a negative result. If your child has one of the three Covid-19 symptoms (high temperature, continuous cough, loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) you must have a PCR test at a test centre and isolate until a negative result is confirmed.

If you do need to inform school of a positive test, please do so immediately. To help us support the test and trace process, please continue to inform us of test results at the end of term. If your child has Covid-19 symptoms and you need to get them tested, please let us know the outcome. After school closes on Friday 28 May, you can still let school know by emailing up to 6pm on Sunday 30 May. Thank you.

Coming into school

Please can we remind parents that there is no access to the school site for visitors. The school office is closed to visitors unless there is an emergency or through a prior appointment. If you need to bring something into school for your child, please ring the office first to discuss how to best do this. Thank you.

We are offering a FREE 14 day trial on our coaching programme at Helsby Tennis Club for Juniors / Adults. All equipment provided. To book please visit or The club has just won LTA regional club of the year in the North Region. Come down and give us a try!

CW&C Media Release: Take time for family and friends. Take time to test

CW&C and the local Public Health England team have asked us to communicate the importance of twice weekly COVID-19 testing for people without symptoms, something we are all eligible for, and how easy it is to access tests. Further information is available through: Facebook; Twitter; Instagram; and LinkedIn

To summarise the key messages:

  • Twice-weekly no-symptoms (asymptomatic) testing is important as identifies the one in three people who have the virus without any symptoms and so who could be spreading the virus unwittingly.
  • While vaccines are the best way to protect people from Coronavirus, no vaccine is 100% effective.  Even if they have had the vaccine, asymptomatic residents should continue to test themselves twice a week for COVID-19.
  • Rapid Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) are for people without symptoms of the virus. They show results in around 30 minutes, are easy to access and free to all.
  • There are three walk-in testing centres in the borough at Chester Cathedral, the Dingle Centre in Winsford and Stanney Oaks Leisure Centre in Ellesmere Port, and no appointment is necessary.
  • Test kits to do at home can also be collected at the above locations, as well as at Northwich, Neston, Frodsham and Ellesmere Port libraries, Dee View Distribution Hub near Chester Retail Park and the mobile library van at Tarporley, Tattenhall, Malpas and Tarvin. For more information visit:
  • Alternatively, free test kits can be picked up at most pharmacies, with a map of participating venues at:, order online at: or by calling: 119 (open from 7am to 11pm and free to call).

Reminder: residential visits for Y2 and Y4 cancelled

Unfortunately, due to government guidance limiting the number of children in a dormitory to six, the planned visits to Burwardsley (Y2) and Tattenhall (Y4) have been cancelled. This is very disappointing as we know that, like the staff involved, the children were incredibly excited about the trips and were very much looking forward to them. Teachers are currently trying to plan a day trip and activities instead and we will be in touch about this as soon as we can. All monies will be refunded as soon as the office staff are able to process them. Thank you for your understanding.

Reminder: School policies

Please can we remind parents that all school policies are available on our website under the ‘Our School’ tab. This includes policies on anti-bullying and safeguarding. Thank you.
