Weekly Newsletter – 14 December 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

As always, I have tried to keep the weekly newsletter as brief as possible. Please try to take note of everything in the newsletter as it contains important information and updates.

Children ready to start school in Reception next September

Please be aware that the deadline for applications for next year’s Reception class is 15th January. If you, or anyone you know, has a child staring school next year, please remember to get an application in on time. If anyone would like a tour of school before making an application, they are most welcome.

Letter from Public Health England

Attached is a further reminder of the important information from PHE regarding the end of term and arrangements for contacting school if your child tests positive for Covid. Please read this carefully!

Christmas video

Today we have published our Christmas video, ‘Hillside’s Twelve Days of Christmas’! As we are not performing a Christmas production this year, we are asking for a donation to school funds please. If you enjoy our Christmas video, please donate using Parent Pay. Thank you!

The video is available by clicking on the following link. It is also on the school website.

Christmas gifts for staff

A number of parents have asked about whether it is possible to send in a gift for staff. This is permitted. Staff have been told to manage any items brought in carefully and follow all Covid protocols. Ideally, any gifts should be sent in by Wednesday 16th December to enable staff to allow enough time before handling anything. Thank you very much.

Carol Service

Reminder: ‘Carols Around The Tree’ is this Wednesday 16 December at 2pm. All details are in the letter attached. Thank you.

Dinner money

Reminder: please can all accounts be paid and up to date before the end of term. Thank you!

Reminder: End of term

School will finish slightly earlier, as usual, on the last day, Friday 18th December. We will maintain the staggered times so classes will leave as follows:

Reception 2.10pm; Year 1 2pm; Year 2 1.50pm; Year 3 2.10pm; Year 4 2pm; Year 5 1.50pm; Year 6 1.40pm

Link Club will be open from the end of school until the usual time of 6pm.

Reminder: Collecting your child(ren) at the end of the day

Siblings are collected together at the same time. Parents of children waiting for a brother or sister who finishes at a later time should not collect their child and then allow them to play in the playground while they wait. Children will not be released from class until the later time. This will help us maintain safety and minimise risk. All parents must minimise their time in the playground and leave immediately, as soon as you have collected your child, maintaining social distancing at all times.

Reminder: One-way system

Please can parents follow our voluntary one-way system up Bates Lane. Whilst traffic is lighter with the staggered timings, we have recently had some problems and congestion. If everyone drives up Bates Lane from Chester Road it does make things so much easier. Thank you for your help with this.

Kind regards
