Extra-Curricular Clubs

Details for this term’s club will be sent home later this week with school led clubs starting next week. Choir, Art Jam and Drama clubs are starting this week.

Eco-bricks

As part of our sustainability and recycling work with our partners in South Africa, we are making some ‘Eco-bricks’ and are asking for your help.  We would like every child (or family) to make at least one ‘Eco-brick’ please.

To make an ‘Eco-brick’:-

  • Clean a 2 litre bottle
  • ‘stuff’ the 2 litre bottle full of un-recyclable waste (crisp packets, biscuit wrappers, chocolate bar wrappers, etc) until it is completely full!
  • Bring your ‘Eco-brick’ into school on Monday 10th June.

In Capetown, they are hoping to build a school out of ‘Eco-bricks’ and we plan to construct something too – ideas to be developed by the children and formalised by our school council.

Poetry Recital competition

We are holding another poetry recital competition this term.  Children are invited to either write a poem or choose a famous poem and learn it.  They will then recite it to their class.  Class winners will be decided by Friday 17th May so that we can hold a ‘Grand Final’ on Monday 22nd May in a special; assembly at 10.15am.  All class winners will receive certificates with the overall winners receiving a book token.  There will also be rewards for good listening too.  We hope that the children enjoy learning their poem and reciting it for their friends.

Sports update

Intra-school football competitions – on Thursday 28th March we had a whole school intra-football competition at the school field.  It was fantastic to see so many smiley children having fun all in the name of sport!  Check the school’s twitter for some brilliant photos.

Volleyball – this week our School Sports Coordinator, Mandy Dorrell, is working with our Y5/6 pupils to deliver some volleyball sessions ahead of the FAVSP volleyball festival.

Foster Care Campaign

Have you heard? Cheshire East, Cheshire West & Chester, Halton & Warrington Councils are collaborating to recruit more foster carers in the area and we need your help!  Do you have a spare bedroom, space in your home and your heart to foster children in your local area? We are looking for foster carers who can care for children particularly over 5yrs of age, those with disabilities, teenagers and siblings who need to stay together. Over 8,000 new foster families are needed in the UK in the next twelve months, maybe you could be one of them.  Our foster carers come from all walks of life and at all stages of their lives. You or someone you know may be single, raising their own family, never had children or retired … we’d love to hear from you!

So during the Fostering Network’s annual campaign Foster Care Fortnight 13th May – 26th May, why not pick up that phone on 01925-444100, click on our website www.foster4.co.uk or find us on Facebook @foster4cheshire and take that first step… We’re waiting to hear from you!
