Weekly Newsletter – 15 March 2021

Dear parents and carers

As always, I have tried to keep the weekly newsletter as brief as possible. Please try to take note of everything in the newsletter as it contains important information and updates.

School reopening

I am pleased to report that the return to school has gone very well! It was terrific to see lots of smiling faces and happy children last week. We hope that everything has gone smoothly from a parent perspective too but, if you do have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you.

Reminder: start and end of the day times:

Year 5

Year 6

We are minimising any contact between the different bubbles to try to stop the spread of any infection. In the event of a pupil or member of staff testing positive for Coronavirus, the whole bubble will be sent home to self-isolate in line with public health instructions. In this instance, daily remote learning lessons will be delivered by the teachers.

Friends of Hillside update!

Please remember to use ‘Amazon Smile’ when ordering anything from Amazon! This is really easy to do and raises money for school! Thank you. We realise that a summer fair may not be possible this year but, with restrictions being eased on 21 June, we remain hopeful! We have provisionally set aside either 2nd or 9th July for a summer fair so please put these in your diary and watch this space! Thank you.

Chemistry with Cabbage!!!

Year 6 will be taking part in a 'Chemistry with Cabbage' science session on Wednesday. A visiting scientist will be give Year 6 pupils a talk, a demonstration and an opportunity to get involved in some exciting practical activities. We hope that the children have an enjoyable and interesting day!

Red Nose Day!

Please remember it is Red Nose Day this Friday. Details were sent out in an email last week! All monies raised will go direct to the Comic Relief charity.

Reminder: ‘Relationships and Health Education’ (RHE) policy and ‘Sex and Relationships Education’ (SRE) policy

Please have a look at our policies for RHE and SRE at:

We are required by law to consult with you about these policies. If you have any questions regarding them, please contact school. Thanks very much!

Free testing reminder

Parents and other adults in households with children at school or college, who do not have symptoms, can now access regular, rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) testing. This includes childcare and support bubbles. Tests are fast, easy and completely free. There is further information under the Covid tab on the school website.

It is still very important that we adhere to government guidance regarding social distancing and staying safe. After dropping off or collecting your child(ren), please leave quickly and do not hang around to speak to other parents. Parents collecting more than one child should collect at the later time only and children will be ready for collection at this time. I hope this answers any questions you may have had but, if anyone has any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact school.

Thanks very much everyone. Please take care and stay safe.

Kind regards

Craig Richardson, Headteacher
