Reminder: It is still very important that we adhere to the government guidance regarding social distancing and staying safe. After dropping off or collecting your child(ren), please leave quickly and do not hang around to speak to other parents.

 

Dear parents and carers

As we are now well into the summer term (pity the weather is not yet very summery!), I thought it a good idea to update you on how things are going in school.

I am pleased to say that the children continue to try and hard and apply themselves well in lessons. The large majority have coped well with the Covid-19 lockdown and have adapted well to the return to school and resumed their learning. We will be carrying out assessments over the term to help us assess where the children are at and whether they are working at the levels expected for their age. We will confirm this to you in the end of year reports which will be sent out on Monday 5 July. We will also provide you with an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their classteacher at our summer term parent progress evenings on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 July. These will be held using Zoom and details of how to book your appointment will be sent out soon after the half-term holiday. If you have any concerns or questions before then, please do not hesitate to ask either myself or the classteacher.

Let’s hope the weather improves soon and that this can help us enjoy learning outside the classroom too!

Residential visits for Y2 and Y4 cancelled

Unfortunately, due to government guidance limiting the number of children in a dormitory to six, the planned visits to Burwardsley (Y2) and Tattenhall (Y4) have been cancelled. This is very disappointing as we know that, like the staff involved, the children were incredibly excited about the trips and were very much looking forward to them. Teachers are currently trying to plan a day trip and activities instead and we will be in touch about this as soon as we can. All monies will be refunded as soon as the office staff are able to process them. Thank you for your understanding.

Around the World Lunch Menu

This Thursday there is a special Italian themed lunch menu.  The choices will be lasagne, garlic bread, sweetcorn and broccoli, vegetarian option available, jacket potato with choices of cheese, tuna or beans and salad.  Desserts will be a choice of iced sponge cake or chocolate gelato ice cream both served with a fruit wedge.

School policies

Please can we remind parents that all school policies are available on our website under the ‘Our School’ tab. This includes policies on anti-bullying and safeguarding. Thank you.

Anyone for tennis?!

We are delighted that Mike Herd form Helsby Tennis Club is able to come into school to deliver some tennis coaching to Reception, Y1, Y3, Y4 and Y6. Mike will be working outside with the children and we will follow all Covid guidance.
