Half-term

Please remember that school closes for half-term this Friday 24th May for the ‘Whitsuntide’ holiday.  We hope that you all enjoy a restful week and that the weather is good!  Please note that Monday 3rd June is a staff training, or INSET day, and so school re-opens on Tuesday 4th June.  Thank you.

Polling day – 23rd May

A reminder that the KS1 building is being used as a polling station for the European elections on Thursday so access in and out school will be via the KS2/visitor entrance.

Parent survey

Thank you very much to everyone who responded to our parent survey.  We received a total of 106 responses which is the most ever and gives us a really good view of parental opinion overall.  The outcomes are extremely positive with almost all parents saying they are happy with our school.  Mr Richardson, the leadership team and governors are currently looking at the results and at your suggestions for improvement and we will respond to these in detail after the half-term.

A number of you have mentioned holding celebration assemblies after drop off rather than at 10.15am as this is easier for parents who are attending and this is something we are going to change.  Starting with this Friday’s celebration assembly, these will now start at 9.05am.  Some of you also mentioned greater consistency around the systems for each class and improving how we communicate – again, this is something we have listened to and we will try our best to improve things.

A number of you mentioned parents evening time and appointments not being long enough. This is always difficult but we are looking into this and whether we could start earlier to enable us to offer longer visits!  Again, we will update you when we’ve had the chance to make a better plan.  Thank you again for all your helpful suggestions – we will provide a full summary of the survey and our plans for improvement very soon – watch this space!

Road Safety and one-way system

We have noticed a number of cars driving the wrong way down our ‘Bates Lane one-way system’.  We know that this is not enforceable by law and that we are asking everyone to voluntarily follow the one-way system but it does ease traffic flow considerably and helps create a safer environment for our pupils and families.  Do please try to follow it if you can!

If walking to school can parents and children, please be vigilant of cars reversing out of our neighbours drives.

Go Green – Thank you!

A massive thank you to everyone for your generosity last Friday.  Mr Richardson enjoyed being covered in mushy peas and we raised a grand total of £275 which Mr Richardson and some of the children will take to Clatterbridge on Friday 7th June.

Art Jam

Art Jam after school club will be continuing after half-term, please see attached flyer for booking details.

Poetry recital competition

We enjoyed a fantastic poetry recital competition in assembly today.  Well done to the winners: Olivia, Jess and Ellie from Y5, Noah in Y3 and Idris from Reception.  They all received certificates and £10 book tokens.  All the finalists received a certificate as did the best listeners.  Well done everyone!  Thank you to the parents that joined us for this!
