Harvest Festival – change of date

Please note that our Harvest Festival is now Thursday 25th October at 2pm in St Paul’s Church.  Apologies for any inconvenience.

My Happy Mind

After staff training last week, we will be introducing our new mental health and wellbeing programme ‘My Happy Mind’ this week.  All classes will spend time learning about the science behind how our brains work and begin to explore how we can manage some of the times we may be unhappy or worried.  More information is available from www.myhappymind.org

School review and school improvement

As part of our continued efforts to look to improve, this Friday sees us welcome Ann Gill, our school improvement partner, into school.  She will spend time observing teaching and learning, talking to staff and pupils and meeting with Mr Richardson and school leaders.  We will share any outcomes with you when the report is finalised and look to act on any recommendations to help us improve.  Any questions, please check with Mr Richardson.

Reception reading meeting

This Thursday Miss Jagota and Mrs Williams are holding a reading and phonics workshop for parents in the Reception classroom at 2pm.  All Reception parents are invited to attend what we hope will be an informative and useful afternoon. Thank you.

Year 6 parent workshops

Mr Khan is holding parent workshops this Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm to help Year 6 parents support their child’s learning in school and at home.  All Year 6 parents are invited.  We hope you find these events useful!

Before and after school clubs

Please remember that Streetdance club starts at 8am this Wednesday in the school hall.

There are still places available in the Rattle & Roll drama club.  If your child would like to enrol, please do so through their website at www.rattleandrollperformance.com

Consent for use of images

A final reminder to those parents who have not yet returned the new ‘request for consent’ form in relation to use of your child’s image in school. If we do not receive the form by the end of this week we will have to assume consent is not provided and therefore your child’s image will not be used by school. Please contact the office if you need another form.

Minydon

Next week, Year 6 will be away from school all week on their residential at Minydon. They will be accompanied by Mr Richardson, Mr Khan and Miss Frommert. In Mr Richardson’s absence, if you have any concerns or queries about school, please contact the school office and ask to speak to Mrs Thomas (Y5 teacher).  Thank you.

Sports Update

Three of our Year 6 pupils are participating in the FAVSP ‘Introduction to Orienteering’ event at Helsby high School on Wednesday.  We hope they enjoy the day and wish them well!  Further FAVSP events, including Tag Rugby and Hockey, are coming up soon and details will follow.
