Weekly Newsletter – 8 February 2021

REMINDER: GOVERNMENT ADVICE: CRITICAL WORKERS SHOULD ‘KEEP THEIR CHILDREN AT HOME IF THEY CAN’

Dear parents and carers

As always, I have tried to keep the weekly newsletter as brief as possible. Please try to take note of everything in the newsletter as it contains important information and updates.

Bates Lane

The signs regarding the proposed resurfacing of Bates Lane have appeared again informing us that work will start today and last three days. Please find an alternative place to park during the road closure. Thank you for your patience.

Active Travel consultation – walkway and cycle path from Helsby to Frodsham

Cheshire West and Chester Council has just launched a consultation exercise relating to the use of the Active Travel Fund. The Council was awarded £611,800 grant award from ‘Tranche 2’ of the Government’s Active Travel Fund, to deliver an attractive alternative to the car for travelling on shorter journeys whilst also supporting efforts to improve public health. The new funding will help to deliver a series of proposed schemes in Northwich and between Helsby and Frodsham that were identified by the Local Walking and Cycling Infrastructure Plan adopted last year.

A questionnaire survey and more detailed information about the schemes, including general plans of the scheme extents, are available along with our engagement plan on the Council’s consultation webpage. –

This webpage will also provide a summary of the feedback received and future updates on the schemes. The four week consultation period closes on Sunday 21st February 2021.

Half-term - please remember that school closes this Friday for one week for the half-term holiday. There will be no live lessons or in school provision this week.

Reminder: School reopening

Please remember that schools will not reopen fully until at least 8 March. Schools and parents will be given two weeks’ notice so that we can prepare for this and make the necessary arrangements. I will make sure that you are aware of any changes to the current arrangements as soon as possible.

Reminder - Remote Learning Plan – updated 1 February 2021

Please note the update to our remote learning plan. This is available on the school website.

Children’s Mental Health week

Last week, 1-7 February, was ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’. Thank you for supporting us in encouraging the children to think about how they can ‘express themselves’ and think about the importance of their mental health. This is something we will continue to think about in our ‘My Happy Mind’ lessons.

Cheshire libraries half term quiz

Cheshire libraries are doing a Harry Potter quiz from tomorrow until the end of half term that primary schools may be interested in. There’s a £10 book token as a prize.

Questions, how to enter and terms and conditions are at https://yourwestcheshire.co.uk/pages/4547/1/The_Harry_Potter_Half_Term_Quiz.html

Let’s Go Green for Clatterbridge

Some of you may remember school raising money for the Clatterbridge Cancer charity. We enjoyed a visit from the Big LEGO hospital and supported a ‘Go Green for Clatterbridge’ day including the children covering me in mushy peas in a bath!

We have been asked to support the charity again and are asking everyone, whether in school or at home, to ‘Go Green for Clatterbridge’ by wearing something green in their lessons this Friday 12 February. If you can’t find anything green, just choose a favourite colour instead! To donate, please visit our Just Giving page:

Assemblies

Assemblies continue to go well and focus on wellbeing. Please try to join us if you can.

This week, Friday is a special ‘Celebration Assembly’ at 9am to present certificates to those children who have been impressing teachers and teaching assistants with their effort, attitude and engagement in remote learning. I do hope that these children and their parents are able to join us. Friday’s assembly details:
