Open Day reminder

This week we are holding our annual open days for parents with children ready to start school in September 2019 on Monday 8th October at 1.30pm and Friday 12th October at 9.30am.

Progress Evenings

All parents should have received login details and instructions for booking a progress evening appointment online.  If you still haven’t or are having issues using the system, please contact the school office. Bookings close at 5pm on Monday 15th October.

After school clubs

Multi skills is cancelled again this week, apologies but this has been unavoidable. The following week, w/c 15th October, choir and band practice are cancelled due to progress evenings taking place. Football, multi skills and tag rugby will still go ahead.

School photographs-date change

Please note individual school photographs will now be taken on Monday 22nd October and not the 8th of November as originally stated.

Parking around school

A polite reminder to everyone to please park safely when dropping off and picking up and to consider our neighbours by not blocking driveways. Can we also remind everyone of our voluntary one-way system up Bates Lane from the main road. This has helped ease congestion at the busiest times and is a real help – please stick to it if you can.  Thank you as always for your cooperation in in these important matters as we look to keep our children safe.

Year 6 Parent workshops

Thank you to all parents who attended the maths reasoning and reading workshops.  Both workshops were well attended and the feedback has been that the information was useful in helping parents support their children at home.  Support materials for parents who could not make it will be sent home this week.  Similar workshops are planned for all year groups later in the school year.

Year 6 Min-y-don residential

Well done Y6 on another successful Min-y-don residential.  All children completed a wide range of outdoor adventure challenges testing their confidence, determination and most importantly, giving them an opportunity to do new things and have fun!

Harvest Festival

Harvest week is now the week beginning 22nd October.  The Harvest Festival is at St Paul’s Church on 25th October at 2pm.

Packed lunches

A polite request to please not send in nuts or nut based sandwich fillings e.g. peanut butter, in your child’s packed lunch as we have several children in school who have nut allergies.

Tag Rugby

Good luck to the Y5/6 tag rugby squad who are attending a tag rugby competition this Thursday 11th October.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) have launched an out-of-hours advice line for people living in the Cheshire and Wirral area (including West Cheshire, East Cheshire, South Cheshire, Vale Royal and Wirral).

The advice line is open to everyone, including young people themselves, parents, teachers, healthcare professionals and the children and young people’s workforce and seeks to provide individuals with advice and support surrounding Children and Young People’s mental health. The service provides the caller with an opportunity to talk to a mental health professional about children and young people’s mental health. They can offer several types of support including mental health advice, resources, signposting and mental health support calls. They can also complete a mental health assessment over the phone and then and this will then be passed on to the relevant CAMHS team for triage.  The Advice Line Number is 01244 397644 and is open from 5-10pm (Monday –Friday) and 12 – 8pm (Saturday and Sunday).

The Queens Schools in Chester are holding their senior school open morning on Saturday 13th October, 9.30-12.30am.
