Christmas productions

Thank you to everyone who attended the Reception and KS1 Christmas productions last week.  The children enjoyed performing ‘The Inn-spectors’ for you very much and it was lovely to see our school hall packed out on both occasions.  KS2 pupils are now looking forward to their performances of ‘Snow White’ this week at 6.30pm on Tuesday 18th December and 2pm on Wednesday 19th December.  Can the children please arrive in school for 6pm. We wish them well and we hope you enjoy the shows!

The school choir performed with the Highfield Male Voice Choir in a special concert at St Paul’s Church last Thursday.  They were incredible!  They sang beautifully and we have received many comments about how excellently they sang.  Well done everyone and thank you to Mrs Fletcher-Curran for all her hard work!  Thanks to the Highfield Male Voice Choir who generously donated £150 to school.  This has been used to purchase a portable speaker system for the choir to use when performing at community events.

End of term

Please remember that school closes early for Christmas at 2pm on Thursday 20th December and will re-open at 8.55am on Tuesday 8th January 2019!  We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our children, families and friends a very merry Christmas and best wishes for 2019!  If you can join us for ‘Carols Around the Tree’ on Thursday at 1.15pm, you are most welcome!  Thank you for all your help and support this term!

Message from Public Health - button batteries

This Christmas, families are being asked to keep potentially dangerous products out of reach of babies, toddlers and small children, especially spare and used lithium button batteries. All batteries pose a risk to children but the size and power of button batteries and the size of the child matter. They can be dangerous if they get stuck in a child’s throat, nose or ear.

How can you help keep children safe?

  • Keep all spare batteries in a sealed container out of children’s reach and sight, ideally in a high-up, lockable cupboard.
  • Keep products with batteries well out of reach if the battery compartment isn’t secured.
  • Put ‘flat’ or ‘dead’ batteries out of reach straight away and recycle them safely.
  • Avoid toys from markets, discount stores or temporary shops as they may not conform to safety regulations, and take care when buying online or from overseas.
  • Teach older children that button batteries are dangerous and not to play with them or give them to younger brothers and sisters.
