‘Keep it Safe’ and ‘Climate Change’ walk

Thanks to everyone who helped with our climate change demonstration on Friday.

Christmas Fair

Thanks to everyone for your support at Friday’s Christmas Fair, especially the members of ‘Friends of Hillside’ who organised and coordinated such a fantastic evening.  Well done to the choir and band who performed so brilliantly!

Christmas Productions and Pantomime

A reminder to please order and pay for your production tickets online via ParentPay by Thursday 5th December and make payment for the Pantomime visit on 16th December if you haven’t so already. Please contact the office with any payment queries.

Christmas lunch

All children are invited to join us for Christmas lunch day on Wednesday, 11th December, see attached menu. There is also a vegetarian option but this is only the meal choice that day so if your child does not want a Christmas lunch, they can still bring in their own packed lunch and enjoy eating it with their friends. Please ensure all school meals are paid for in advance and any arrears are cleared asap.

Christmas beanies

Christmas beanies or flumps are available to buy from the school office for a minimum donation of £1.50 each, in aid of Halton Haven Hospice.

Christmas Journey

Year 2 pupils travel to main street church in Frodsham on Tuesday for the ‘Christmas Journey’.  This is always something our children enjoy so we hope that everyone has a great experience.

Ho Ho Helsby!

As usual, Hillside is participating in our wonderful community Christmas event, Ho Ho Helsby.  The choir and band are performing on the stage before the highlight of the evening; the float parade.  We are confident that the Hillside float will once again look and sound fantastic and we look forward to seeing everyone on the night – please give us a wave and a cheer!  Thank you!

Year 4 ‘Wider Opportunities’ concert

This term, Year 4 class (and Mrs Cook!) have been learning to play a brass instrument as part of our ‘wider opportunities’ scheme and our music curriculum.  The children have tried hard and are looking forward to performing for parents, grandparents and friends this Thursday at 2pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend the concert which is always a great spectacle!  Thank you.

Roof works

More scaffolding is being erected around the school buildings this week as part of our essential roof repairs and replacement. We have made the areas as safe as possible by erecting fencing and have spoken to the children about how to keep safe. Part of the safety measures include not using the ‘Year 6 area’ or the path and steps around the hall and kitchen area. Key stage 2 children who meet parents/carers in the Key Stage 1 playground after school must now walk through school and not attempt to use the path please.

Polling Station: Thursday 12th December

A reminder that on Thursday 12th December the Reception and Year 1 building will be used as a polling station for the general election.  There will be NO entrance to the KS1 playground for Reception or Key Stage 1 pupils and parents/carers including collection from after school clubs and link club.  Please can all children enter and exit school via the main visitor entrance and Key Stage 2 playground. Reception and Year 1 will be based in the hall for the day and will be enjoying their Christmas party in the afternoon.  Any queries regarding the arrangements can be directed to Mr Richardson.  Thank you for your cooperation.  As always, our main aim will be to make sure our children are safe.

A huge thank you to those who supported the Christmas Fayre

Whether you donated a sweet jar, provided a present for the tombola, bought and spent tokens or volunteered on the night - you’ve made a real difference to the children at Hillside. We’re calculating our final total and will share it with you soon.

Thanks to your continued generosity we’ve been able to pay for the transport to and from the pantomime this month, helping to make Christmas extra special for the children.

Visit our teddy tombola at Ho Ho Helsby this Saturday

You’ll find us in the scout hut between 12:00 and 16:00. Pop along and say hello – you may be the lucky winner of one of our cute teddies to add to the family this Christmas!
