Dear parents and carers

Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher

I am pleased to be able to inform you that Mr Khan will be the acting headteacher at Hillside for the next two terms. Governors are currently recruiting a new permanent headteacher and will be interviewing next term.

I am also pleased to let you know that Mr Dan Riley, a senior leader from Upton Heath Primary School in Chester, will be joining Hillside as deputy headteacher in September. He will also be teaching Year 6. Mr Riley is a very experienced Year 6 teacher who has expertise in leading the English curriculum. He is also interested in music and sports. He is excited to be joining Hillside and has lots to bring to the team!

Mega Treat Day

We are celebrating the achievements of all our pupils this Thursday with our ‘Mega Treat Day’. Plans have been adapted to meet current Covid guidance but we will still be visiting the school field to play and enjoy some large inflatables; the children will enjoy a circus workshop and a dance workshop and also an ice-cream from an ice-cream van, as well as a picnic lunch! We hope that it keeps fine and that the children have a great day! After the difficulties of the past year, they certainly deserve it!!!

The children are welcome to come in their own clothes. Please can they wear something suitable for playing outside and for dancing. Thank you.

Reading Scheme Update

We have recently purchased new reading books to extend and support our phonics teaching and reading scheme. We are currently in the process of re-organising the scheme in preparation to roll it out in September. In order to complete this, we are asking for all school reading books to be returned to school by Wednesday 6th July please. In the meantime, please continue to encourage your child to access our online library with Collins e-books. Thank you for your continued support. Reading is our main priority and the new books will make a big difference to how we are able to help and support our early reading.
