Year 6 Races Trip

Year 6 are enjoying a trip to Chester races this Thursday 9th May!  We hope they have a terrific time learning about the maths involved and more about horseracing!  They have been working really hard and deserve a fun day out!  Well done Y6! 


Please note that there will be no cross country club or cricket club on Thursday 9th May.

Workshops for parents

The year group reading and reasoning workshops have been very well received so far.  Thank you very much to all those parents who have attended.  Anyone who was unable to come, please speak to your child’s classteacher to find out more.

This time it is the turn of Year 1.  Their workshops will be held on Thursday 16th May (reading/phonics) and Friday 17th May (reasoning), both at 2.15pm.  We do hope that you can attend!

Let’s Go Green

As part of our efforts to raise funds to support this year’s designated charity, Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Mr Richardson is participating in their ‘Let’s Go Green’ event. On Friday 17th May, from 9am, pupils (and parents) are invited to throw mushy peas at Mr Richardson who will be in some stocks in the KS1 playground, peas will be available on the day. In return, pupils are invited to make a donation to the ‘Let’s Go Green’ campaign in support of the cancer charity. Mr Richardson will take some pupils to Clatterbridge on Friday 7th June to present the money raised. Thanks you as always in anticipation of your support.

Helsby library

The library is turning 40 and parents, pupils and local residents are invited to join them celebrate on Wednesday 15th May, at the following events

  • Reminiscence Coffee morning, 10-12pm. Look back at Helsby through the years and share your memories with others over a cuppa.
  • Special Rhyme & Storytime 2.15-2.45pm. Songs & stories with a special guest
  • Mindfulness moments, 3-5pm. Make your own mindfulness jar filled with positive thoughts
  • Digital Animation, 3.30-4.30pm. Using Stop motion technology (and lego). For children aged 7-11.
  • Crime Scene - call forensics! 7pm. Learn how to analyse a crime scene with a forensic expert. Tickets £4, available from the library or via
