Charities for 2014/15

We have had a suggestion to support Alder Hey Children’s Hospital this year and we are also keen to support Cancer Research UK, Breast Cancer UK and Marie Curie Cancer Care as we have a number of people in our school community affected by cancer currently.  Our fund raising activities this year will go towards supporting these charities.

Reception Class

We hope that our new Reception pupils have settled in well and are enjoying their time at Hillside!  Today is their first full day in school so we wish them well and hope that they (and Mrs Clarke and Mrs Fletcher-Curran!) aren’t too tired come the end of the week!

Extra-curricular activities

Clubs start this week.  We hope the children enjoy themselves.  Any questions or queries about extra-curricular activities, please ask Mr Richardson.  Thank you.

Sports News

Cross country runners are now aware of the West Cheshire Athletics Club races which start on Saturday 4th October.

The Y5/6 football team kick off their season with a difficult away trip to Our Lady’s Primary School in Ellesmere Port.  We hope that they enjoy their game and that it helps with preparations for the new season.

Gold Award for Hillside!

We have received confirmation that we have once again achieved the Gold PE Kitemark award.  This is a terrific achievement and recognises all that we do in sport and PE at Hillside.  Well done to all staff, pupils, parents and our whole school community for your continued support.  Thank you.

Over by Christmas

Years 5 and 6 are working with Mr Matt Baker and Mrs Julia Williams this week and will be participating in the WW1 drama at Helsby railway station on Friday morning at 10.10am.  Other year groups will also be watching the production.

Used Stamps

We are still collecting used stamps to donate to Martin House children’s hospice.  £2,000 was raised last year a big thank you and hope we can continue to help this worthwhile charity.
